Based in Philadelphia, the Leeway Foundation supports women and trans artists and cultural producers working in communities at the intersection of art, culture, and social change. Through grantmaking and other programs, Leeway promotes artistic expression that amplifies the voices of those on the margins, promotes sustainable and healthy communities, and works in the service of movements for economic and social justice.
We began working with Leeway in 2013 when we rebuilt and repositioned their website to focus more on telling the organization’s story through its grantees and grant programs. Each grantee has a profile that includes a headshot, biography, list of awarded grants, website, and other related content. As a result, our work involved a significant amount of information architecture to organize a complicated, relational data structure to allow for filtering by grantees and projects. In addition, the site had to be responsive, facilitate applications and submissions and events, and support video, podcasts, and photo galleries.
We were honored to help an organization better tell its story through inspiring artists and support two causes that are important to us: social change and the arts.
